A Passion for Guitars and Music
Born in Grangetown Cardiff, I grew up on Pentrebane Road in Fairwater, one of six children. My father loved to sing and thought he was Tom Jones. My friends and I always had a sing-song on the bus to town, on our night out we would be singing all the rugby songs and others, including the Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Queen ect; memories I’ll never forget.

I still meet up twice a year with my 5 school friends, we call ourselves the Eagles. I started learning to play guitar at night school in my early teens with my auntie. We learnt 4 chords D. A. G. C., then picked up more from watching other people play. I played a bit, in a get together with school friends, but never went any further.

I joined a band when I left school with a few friends, we were called Elite but we only played 3 gigs. Due to football and family commitments I didn’t play guitar for many years after in public, only in the house.

I started to play a little bit in my early 40’s, but nothing serious. After retiring from football in my early 50’s, I started to practice a lot more and started to write my own material from bits I made up from playing years before. I decided to go to a studio to start recording some songs not long after.

I joined a seventies/eighties band called Retro in Bridgend. We started gigging and I really enjoyed playing that type of music. I was with the band for a year and a half. After that I then played in a duo called Acoustic Beats, just playing covers.

I like all types of music, but think I was spoilt because the seventies music, which I grew up with, was a great decade of pop, disco, reggae, soul and other mixes of music which are still alive today.
After doing a few basic tracks in the studio I decided to go back, re-do some and them properly and release them online through channels such as YouTube and Spotify. My first release was a Christmas song called 'Together at Christmas', then others followed. I've since also been featured on a few radio stations.

I really enjoy creating songs in the studio, watching them build up and releasing them online. I was 59 on my first release, hopefully I’ll be 99 on my last one... If captain Tom can do it, then so can I.
